We “Moved Our Feet So Others Could Eat”!

Certus Management Group employees participated in the Wheeler Mission Drumstick Dash last week. This was the first year a team from CMG participated together, although a few of the participants have been running or walking in this event for a few years.

The Drumstick Dash was held on Thanksgiving morning in Broad Ripple. The annual Drumstick Dash is Wheeler Mission’s largest event of the year. Wheeler Mission is an organization that serves the needs of the Indianapolis and Bloomington homeless population. Their Drumstick Dash slogan, “Move Your Feet So Others Can Eat” is catchy but doesn’t encompass nearly all the amazing work they do. Wheeler Mission offers various rehabilitation services, such as addiction recovery, mental health care, assistance in training and job placement, emergency shelter, and of course, meals. These programs do more than just help folks in Indianapolis and Bloomington with their everyday needs. They address the root of the problems, and help folks get back on their feet for good.

The employees on Certus Management Group’s team participated in the Drumstick Dash both in-person and virtually this year as the 2nd largest small corporate team and 8th largest team overall. Our goal was to raise $2,500, and we exceeded that goal, raising $2,725 for the event. Altogether, Wheeler Mission raised $116,982 for their cause, and CMG was grateful to be a part.

Certus Management Group plans to create a team and participate in the Drumstick Dash again in 2022, and also has plans to continue supporting Wheeler Mission throughout the year. There are many ways to help Wheeler Mission all year round, such as volunteering or donating items the organization needs. Wheeler Mission needs volunteers to help serve meals, clean, run events, and much more. They also accept money donations and things like toiletries and interview clothes for folks who are working towards employment. While Certus plans to contribute to Wheeler Mission’s efforts, we also encourage readers to help in any way they can, too! Find information about volunteering here, donation information here, and of course, registration for next year’s Drumstick Dash here. We hope our community’s efforts can continue to make a difference year-round!
